From one narrative to the next, Sayeh Sarfaraz lays out a path that draws on events

from recent history in the Middle East. Politics emerges between the signs that populate

this world, and with it experiences of conflict, exile, anguish, and censorship.

Sarfaraz creates imaginary spaces based on a personal iconography that is both strong

and poetic, taken from the world of childhood and play as it exists in Persian culture,

through the form of the miniature and in other ways. In this installation, which is

articulated around drawings, Sarfaraz casts a critical gaze at the events that mark

individual and collective life journeys.
